On August 17th 2022, a short but extremely severe cloudburst combined with bone-dry soil and recently harvested fields combined to cause a serious flood in parts of the village. The Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Martin Kimber, wrote to Island Roads as a private individual with his thoughts on the event, based partly on his previous experience as a water engineer.
