Sadly, Florrie’s Bench, near Carpenters Yard, was demolished by an unsteady motorist back in April. The Parish Council and the Arreton Community Hall Trust are working together to replace it and so, hopefully, the space won’t be empty for much longer. Florence Toney, who died in 1988, did a lot of work for the village including the school, the Church and the Community Centre and it is such a shame that her original commemorative bench was destroyed.
